For the last 4 years I have been managing one of the few organic farms on the island of Montreal.
In 2011 I co-founded the farm for Santropol Roulant, a youth run community organization that uses food to build social inclusion. We tackle food justice through a holistic and systems design approach, starting with growing produce on our farm to the preparation and delivery of over 100 meals a day to individuals living with the loss of of autonomy.
The organization is also an social incubator for volunteer led collectives that share resources and infrastructure to facilitate their community projects. There is a flourishing bicycle coop, urban bee keeping, fruit tree harvesting, and a group of amateur mycologists.
Beyond my work on the farm and with the Roulant, I have background in community organizing, carpentry, graphic design and illustration, and tool prototyping and design. I have been active in the farmhack community (open source tool design and fabrication) in the USA and Autoconstruction in Canada.
I am currently striving to help spread the open process of innovation in the agriculture movement and I am working toward establishing a local makerspace in my community.
